Opening Day!

Parsons Farm Market will open for the 2011 season on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at 8am!

It had been a long winter and a damp spring here in the Similkameen, so the crops are a little on the late side this year. Planting and seeding had to wait for the optimum conditions to ensure the highest-quality produce when we harvest. However, from the look of things in the field this week, we are now set to have an excellent year of delicious ground crop and tree fruit.

We’re just about to start picking the first of our cherries later this week as the sun warms them to a delicious, sweet crisp! At the moment, we’re hard at work picking garlic scapes in the back fields. This often underused top of the garlic plant is getting lots of love here at Parsons. Stop by to sample some of our unique creations from this flavourful food – you’ll be glad you did.

As we get into July, expect the cherries to come on with an assortment of varieties, our apricots are starting to mature and the ground crop will grow to become part of your favourite meal of the year.

We look forward to welcoming you to Parsons Farm Market this summer!
